It is a picturesque district perched on a hill overlooking the city. Its name means "black trousers" in Quechua. It resembles Seville, with its narrow streets, colonial facades and workshops.

A stroll through this district to the small plaza, with its arches of Sillar framing is one of the best views of the city. Also worth visiting is the church of San Juan Bautista which dates from 1750.
