









Chinese Tourism headed for Peru
The ambassador for the Popular Republic of China in Peru, May Guoyan, said that due to the rising living standards of the Chinese people, the government is spurring the population to travel abroad and spend on tourism. In April, Peru is slated to be chosen as an official destination for Chinese tourists, as Peru has a great deal of cultural and archaeological destinations to offer and which are in heavy demand amongst Chinese tourists. Some 16 million Chinese tourists are expected to travel abroad in 2004. In 2002, 10 million Chinese tourists traveled to other countries and spent US$10.6 billion.
Colca Valley will receive 86 thousand tourists
The Colca Valley will be visited by 86,000 tourists during 2004 estimated the Mayor Elmer Caceres. During 2003, more than 75,000 tourists visited this important destination. The entrance to Colca has been increased from $2.00 to $6.00. With this money, the road from Arequipa to Colca will be paved.
Vilcabamba, last point of Inca's resistance
Recently discovered, this citadel is considered the second Machu Picchu. Vilcabamba is located 80 Km. west of Machu Picchu, on the Choquesafra mountain ( 5,600 m. high ). Four Incas governed this site, Manco Inca, Sayri Tupac, Tito Cusi, Tupac Amaru.
Pachacutec palace will become an ethnological museum
The Inca Pachacutec's palace, in process of restoration, will become a historical and ethnological museum, once the Instituro Nacional de Cultura's workers finish the recovery of the arquitecture of this important Inca complex.
