Over 400 years of tradition remain unchanged even in this day of modern techniques. From the breeding, training, tack, and the way the horses are presented in the show ring, the Peruvian breeders and their counterparts around the world have not changed their horse handling methods.
The Peruvian Paso was linked to the upper class of Peru who were attracted to the breed by its aristocratic appeal, a means of comfortable transportation, and their beauty. Beyond the National Reserve of Manu
Chulucanas Pottery comes from a village of the same name in northern Peru. Molded by the hands and feet of the artisan, each piece is exquisitely hand-painted and then baked in a kiln with mango leaves. The soot from the leaves naturally dye the unpainted portions leaving a rich espresso color. Each piece is individually created and signed by its artist.
The pottery tecnique transcend the practical side when a man that used to live in Chulucana named Sosa imported the tecnology of the ancient craftsmen and started to make pots and vases made out of mud. His son, Gerásimo, assistant of his father, explored around the pitcher figure and decided to close the bunghole with a molded head. The result was a typical countrywoman of the northern Peru, a chichera, which laterhe made a husband and a family around. From then, to the famous Chulunacas handicarft, was just a step afar.
The cermaists from Chulucanas, now organized in a union, are in the process to get a recognition of the originality of their work, because there are certain central american artisans selling on the internet pieces with the generic name of "Chulucanas Ceramics.
