Global Volunteers: Who are they?
Global Volunteers is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian, non-governmental organization engaging short-term volunteers on micro-economic and human development programs in close partnership with local people worldwide. Working at the invitation and under the direction of local leaders, volunteers help to create a foundation for world peace through mutual international understanding. The purpose is to maintain a genuine, sustained service partnership with the host community and provide volunteers a genuine opportunity to serve.

Big hugs, toothless smiles, bright coffee-nut eyes beaming "love". Their struggles are many... poverty, disabilities, and even homelessness. But you can make a lasting difference in these young lives. Global Volunteers works with vulnerable infants at Perez Aranibal orphanage. Often no special skills are required, as volunteers are needed to listen to play, read, exercise and share time with the children.
You can help expand and maintain residential, clinical and daycare facilities or help caregivers provide daily care, teach classes or serve meals in a center for children from low-income families. Captivating preschool and kindergarten children enjoy organized arts and crafts activities. By helping them with their school work, and sharing your special talents in music or other creative arts a few hours each day, you can stimulate and encourage their long-term development.
You might also teach simple conversational English skills to young students who have only a very basic understanding of the language. Sessions are informal and focus on recognizing and speaking simple words and sentences.
No matter your age, background, gender or ability, you can be a life-saving resource to demonstrate the universal language of love and compassion, and change a child's life!
